A total of 32 % of the subjects questioned declare that they have received messages for prevention although only 13 % from health professionals. Only 15 subjects did not present any factors of risk, 21 presented one and 18 several (maximum: 6 factors of risk). None of the subjects could remember undergoing screening for the risk of falls. The screening of risks and the prevention of falls should reduce the incidence of this accident, although this work suggests, provided that it is confirmed on a larger scale, that these efforts still have to be undertaken in the community.
